We will now be heading south on Highway 238 towards the "heart" of the Applegate Valley. This tiny hamlet of Murphy is the largest town for the next 20 miles or so. We are entering an area of wide open spaces adorned with  spectacular scenery that will make your jaw drop. Through it all runs the mighty and majestic Applegate River.

Here you will find huge ranches that date back well over 100 years, as well as brand new custom luxury homes. The culture in the valley is widely diversified with third generation ranchers socializing and working side by side with newcomers. The Applegate and Williams Valley is a haven for artists, architects,  visionaries, media folks and musicians, as the valley's beauty is as inspirational as such legendary places as Big Sur and Carmel.

The cemetery by my home has gravestones honoring folks who "walked the Oregon Trail" to get to this spectacular place. You have it easy, you can simply fly or drive here.

I have lived in some of the most beautiful places on the West Coast. Nothing even comes close to the Applegate and Williams Valley.The spectacular beauty, the abundant wildlife, the recreational possibilities, the quiet and the fantastic people have truly made this my "home".
